Affordable Christmas
Families in the Alhambra community shop donated gifts for their children at one-tenth of retail price, so parents facing financial challenges can give Christmas gifts while keeping their dignity as providers.

How it works
Hosted every December by Alhambra Beloved Community Church.
Families are referred
Partner schools and local community organizations refer families facing financial hardship in the Alhambra community. Gifts are for children and teens ages 0–16.
Parents shop with dignity
Donated toys are set out for a one-day shopping event. Parents choose every gift themselves and pay one-tenth of the retail price.
Every purchase gives back
100% of gift sales are donated to local nonprofits serving the community, and parents receive a tax receipt for their donation.

Affordable Christmas helps families in Alhambra facing financial hardship provide a special Christmas for their children. Through the generosity of church members and community partners, parents can choose gifts for their children and purchase them for just 10% of their retail value.
Beyond providing affordable gifts, we pray with families and connect them with local nonprofits offering information and support. For our church, Affordable Christmas is more than a shopping event—it’s an opportunity to put our faith into action through service, compassion, discipleship, and worship.
Ways to give
Every gift on the tables is donated by church members and community partners.
Donate toys
Pick gifts from our Amazon wishlist. Every toy goes on the tables for parents to choose from.
Give to the fund
Give online through Pushpay. In the Fund menu, choose “Benevolence: Affordable Christmas” so your gift goes directly to the event. Choose Give one time.

Community partnership
After gift sales, 100% of the proceeds are donated to local nonprofits serving the Alhambra community. This year, we are proud to partner with a local organization called Starts with the Heart. This gives parents not only the chance to shop for holiday gifts with dignity, but also the opportunity to give back. By partnering with Starts with the Heart and other nonprofits, we aim to uplift and empower as many families as possible. Parents will receive a tax receipt for their donation to Affordable Christmas and its partner organizations.

They host and participate in a variety of outreach events, from monthly weekend meals with neighbors in need, prayer meetings at the Capitol, and quarterly food service with Phoenix Christian, to Bible studies at Phoenix Rescue Mission’s campuses.

Led by Miguel and Gladys Perez, their mission truly starts with the heart. With a deep love of God, His people, and the city of Phoenix, their lead team sets the table with compassion, empathy, and the passion to see and serve the unseen in our communities.
